What is NXTO?

NXTO (short for “Next To Play”) is a free web app that recommends games based on the games you already own and have finished, finds games similar to any title, and keeps your backlog organised. Import your Steam library, rate what you have played, and get picks for what to play next — in any browser, no install.

How does NXTO recommend games?

NXTO builds a taste profile from the games you mark as Done and rate: genres and tags are weighted by your rating, series you like get a boost, and games already in your library or that you hid are excluded. You can filter the results by genre, length and platform. The more games you rate, the better the picks.

Can NXTO recommend games based on my Steam library?

Yes. Sign in with Steam (or paste your profile link) and NXTO imports every game you own, with playtime. Mark the ones you finished and rate them, and the recommendations are built from your own library instead of generic “best games” lists. Your Steam “Game details” must be set to Public for the import to work.

How do I find games similar to a specific game?

Every game page on NXTO (nxto.app/games/{game}) lists similar games, and you do not need an account to see them. Inside the app, the Similar button on any game opens a longer list. Similarity is based on shared tags, weighted so that rare, defining tags count more than generic ones like “Singleplayer”.

What is “Ask AI”?

Ask AI lets you describe what you are in the mood for in your own words (for example “something short and cozy”) and returns two or three picks, each with a reason written for your library. The first pick is free; after that you can buy a pack of 10 picks for $0.99 (one-time) or use NXTO Premium (about $3/month, 30 picks a month and custom folders).

Can I import games from Steam?

Yes. Sign in with Steam and NXTO reads your owned games and playtime from Steam’s public API, matches them to its catalog, and lets you choose what to import and whether played games land as Backlog, Playing or Done. Playtime can then sync automatically every day, and you can opt in to having new purchases added for you. If you only want to see the numbers, the free Steam backlog calculator at nxto.app/backlog-check works without an account.

Is it free?

Yes — NXTO is free to use: tracking your backlog, importing from Steam, statistics, similar games and the standard recommendations cost nothing. Only personalised AI picks are limited: one free pick per account, then packs of 10 for $0.99 (one-time) or NXTO Premium.

How is NXTO different from SteamPeek, 50GamesLike or Steam’s own recommender?

SteamPeek and 50GamesLike are lookup tools: you choose a game (or a few) and get similar titles. Steam’s Interactive Recommender is built into the Steam store. NXTO does that lookup too, but adds your own library, ratings and backlog status, so recommendations skip what you already own and reflect what you actually finished. It also adds an AI mood search, series you have not finished, and backlog tracking. See the full comparison in our guide.

Which gaming platforms does it support?

You can track games from any platform: PC (Steam, Epic, GOG), PlayStation 4/5, Xbox One/Series, Nintendo Switch and older consoles. Steam has one-click import; for other platforms you add games by searching the catalog, which covers titles from over 50 platforms.

Where can I buy a game cheaper?

Game pages and your backlog cards have a “Where to buy” panel: live prices from Eneba in your currency, plus search links for G2A, Gamivo and Instant Gaming. Some of these are affiliate links, so NXTO may earn a commission if you buy — it does not change what you pay.

Where does the game data come from?

Game metadata (titles, descriptions, cover art, genres, tags, platforms) comes from the RAWG Video Games Database (rawg.io) and Steam. Estimated completion times come from HowLongToBeat (howlongtobeat.com) where available.

Where do the playtime estimates come from?

Playtime estimates come from HowLongToBeat for a growing share of the catalog, most-rated games first, and otherwise from the average hours players report. They are guides — your pace, difficulty and how much side content you do will change the real number.

Does it work on mobile and in my language?

Yes. NXTO is a responsive web app that works in the browser on phones and tablets — no app installation. The interface is available in 12 languages: English, Polish, German, French, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Italian, Russian, Turkish, Japanese, Chinese and Korean.

How do I remove a game from my backlog?

In the backlog view, each game has an action menu where you can delete it or change its status. Deletion is permanent, but you can re-add the game at any time via the catalog search.

Is my data secure?

Yes. Passwords are stored hashed with bcrypt. Your backlog is private unless you turn on a public profile (opt-in). We use a small number of processors to run the service — see our Privacy Policy for the full list. We never sell your data.
